Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, President of the National Assembly Meets H.E. Mr. Goh Chok Tong of the Republic of Singapore

In the morning of 24 November 2009, Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, President of the National Assembly offered a courtesy visit here to H.E. Mr. Go Chok Tong, Senior Minister of the Republic of Singapore during his visit to Cambodia.

H.E. Mr. Go Chok Tong told Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin that his official visit to Cambodia aimed at further exchanging experiences between the two legislative bodies, Cambodia and Singapore and seeking more understanding about legislation oversight procedures and legislation adoption process. Tong also expressed his great thanks to Samdech President of the National Assembly for his valuable time to meet him, expressing his strong belief that the relations of friendship and good cooperation between the two countries will be further strengthened in the future.

In reply, Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin said that the great presence of H.E. Mr. Go chok Tong in Cambodia has given the great honor for the Kingdom of Cambodia, particularly has provided more ability for the two countries to continue to cement the friendly relationship, solidarity of the two peoples of the two countries.

Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin expressed his warmest congratulation for all achievements scored by the people of Singapore in all fields, especially in generating GDP per capita of nearly USD 50,000. Samdech President added that Cambodia would like to thank the Republic of Singapore for providing help to Cambodia in the cause of seeking peace, national reconciliation and reconstruction. Moreover, the Republic of Singapore strongly supports Cambodia’s membership as non-permanent member of the United Nation Security Council for 2013-2014.

With regard to the legislation oversight and adoption processes, Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin has informed his guest that despite the Cambodian People’s Party holds the majority seats, the National Assembly has always given great chance for the opposition and other parties to express their point of views during the session.
