The Cambodian High-Level Parliamentary Delegation To Attend the 4th Plenary Session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) in Indonesia
At the invitation of the H.E. Mr. Marzuki Alie, the President of the Indonesian Parliament, the Cambodian high-level delegation headed by H. E. Mr. Nguon Nhel, First Vice President of the National Assembly and the Chairman of the APA National Group left Cambodia on 5 December 2009 to participate in the 4th Plenary Session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) to be held from 7 to 10 December 2009 in Bandung, Indonesia, under the theme on “Roles of Asian Parliament in Strengthening Democracy towards Prosperity, Peace and Justice in the Region”.
The 4th APA Plenary Session will discuss and adopt the following agendas:
- Adopt the Asian Financial Regulations
- Adopt the Resolution on the Improvement of Asian Parliamentary Assembly
The APA has three Standing Committees:
- Standing Committee on Social and Cultural Affairs
- Standing Committee on Economic Affairs
- Standing Committee on Political Affairs

- Adoption of the Agenda
- Statement by the President of APA
- Report by the Chairperson of the Executive Council
- Report by the APA Secretary General
- Adoption of Draft Resolutions recommended by the Executive Council without reference to any Standing Committee:
- Draft Resolution on Streamlining of the APA work
- Draft decision to grant membership to India and Kazakhstan.
- Draft Resolution by the Executive Council on Financial Regulations and the next year budget.
- Election of the Bureau of the Plenary and the Chairpersons of the Standing Committees
- General Debate
- Meetings of the Standing Committees
- Meeting of the Drafting Committee on the Report of APA Plenary Session and Bandung Declaration
- Reports by the Chairpersons of the Standing Committees

It should be noted that APA currently has 39 Parliament Members and 18 Observer Parliaments in Asia. It is also worth to recall that Cambodia once hosted the Sub-APA Meeting on Poverty Reduction in July 2009 in Siem Reap Province under the high presidency of H. E. Mr. Nguon Nhel, First Vice President of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Chairman of Cambodian APA National Group. |
