A Cambodian High-level Parliamentary Delegation Visits Russian Federation

Upon the invitation of H.E. Mr. Sergey M. MIROMOV, Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, a high-level parliamentary delegation headed by Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, President of the National Assembly, left Cambodia on 4th November 2009 at 19.00 to pay a friendly official visit to the Russian Federation from 4th to 10th November 2009.

The delegation scheduled to hold talks with H.E. Mr. Sergey M. MIROMOV, Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, some top leaders of the Russian Federation Council as well as Ministry of Economy and Finance.
Members of the delegation includes H.E. Dr. Cheam Yeap, Chairman of the Commission of Economy, Finance, Banking and Audit, H.E. Mr. Cheang Vun, Chairman of the Commission on Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, Media and Information, H.E. Ms. Nin Saphon, Chairwoman of the Commission on Public Work, Transportation, Telecommunication, Post, Industry, Mines, Energy, Commerce, Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction along with some members of the National Assembly, Advisors to the President of the National Assembly and some leaders of the Secretariat General of the National Assembly.

It should be noted that diplomatic relations between Cambodia and Russia was first established on 15th May 1956 but was severed in 1973 until 1978. In 1979, diplomatic relations between the two countries have been re-established and they celebrated the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic relations on 19th May 2009.
